PICTURES FROM HONDA HYBRID WOMENS TOUR
What a week! The Sun Tour was a success for me all round! Going into the Tour I was fready fresh legs, which showed by me being competitive each day, in what was a solid road stage which came down to a sprint, and a Crit which culled riders quickly at the start, and didn’t stop till the last bell lap rang, also coming down to a sprint. With the road race and the crit both ending in a sprint, the over contenders for the Honda Hybrid Women’s Tour Title would be established by the TT, and it certainly did that, with the top three on top of the podium being the top three in the TT!
The racing was fast and fun, and as always learnt a lot form the tour a couple of things:
- TT warm up- must be done under shelter so if the weather changes i.e rains, you can still do your warm up (i was caught out on this!)
- Gearing! On the TT course I was slogging to big and likewise in the Crit (felt like i did 70 standing starts!)
- Positioning in the RR lost concentration a few times and found myself at the back, and had to put in a good effort to get back to the front!
Apart from racing off the bike was also extremely god times, with the girls from QAS/SASI/NTID trekking around together all week and being on the same team (well half in QAS/SASI and the other in NTID) made for good camaraderie! This trip will go down as the Tour that Donna’s brownies were discovered! (AMAZING!)
All up a fantastic week, which was topped off by;
- Seeing my family
- Catching up with friends which i haven’t seen since February
- Having dinner at my cousins house and experiencing the next Donna Hay cooking by my cousin Mags
- Maccas’s Saturday night after the crit chilling with the cycling girls
- Discovering how much i love Kathmandu (kidding!)
- Hanging out with SRAM neutral support throughout the tour...great bunch of guys!
