"Off you trot"...

The Boulder Colorado progress report, the highs and lows are not just in the mountains. My time in this little “hippy” town has brought some experiences to say the least. Since my last blog I have been doing some solid solo time in the hills at altitude of 5, 500 feet and upwards, to regain some mid season endurance and try to build on some form for the second half of the year.
So the run down on what has happened so far in my Boulder time;
-          Training in the pouring raining, getting stuck at the top of a mountain amongst the down pour and saying to myself the whole 40min decent down “this is character building , this is character building” ...that’s a lie I was swearing to myself and saying “this is F#$%*”
-          Having no idea where I am, out of food, drink and money, then a random guy at the side of the road gives me a “feed” power bar and gel and points me in the direction of Boulder...very random, but much appreciated!
-          Spending 4 or so days with my new Holland friend Jolien a girlfriend to Marc from United Health Care who was away racing. We shopped, made Southern Sun Pub our home and ate some serious good burgers.
-          Discovered Boulder has over 5 “good” cafes!
-          Boulder Creek 24/7 ice bath for da legs.
-          Once Jolien left I was by myself for I think 5 days or so. It was terrible and realised how much of a people person I am and need people around me! I spent all day on the bike, then all day at home myself...lonely days!
-          Then Kate returned (where I’ve being staying for the last two or so weeks..,THANKS HEAPS KATE!) and also realised that the solo 5 days had put me in a routine and still up to this point Kate and I have only been crossing paths as she well summed up when I’m walking out the door “off you trot...”
-          So what does my routine entail;
o   Breaky/computer catch up time
o   Coffee shop
o   Ride
o   Stretch
o   Computer
o   Creek
o   Read/shop/coffee shop
o   Dinner
o   Movie/computer/read
o   Bed
-          This is my life and proud of it...while it lasts at least!
-          On the 7th I’m off to Canada to start my next and final block of racing overseas for this year! I’ve been training hard so wanting to finish off my year here with some good results.
-          Until then this weekend I’m racing a local race called “Dead Dog Classic” inviting hey..!!
Until then let me know if this blog is meeting your expectations/ what you want to hear/see
Pictures from last week - finally have found the "add picture button"!

Hi Ange, You'll be very pleased to hear that your inspirational blog has inspired me to my first ever fastest time in a bike race. It was freezing (litteraly) this Sunday at the vets race, Temp had got to 4 by the time I started off second scratch. 51 K race and one of the scratch bunch had a puncture slowing them down, I won the sprint for 5th place and took fastest time. Nothing as heady as your level, but for me it was quite an achievement.
Stay safe.
Regards,
John
