Back on home soil!

Wow 5 months in the United States flew! To say the least I had the time of my life on and off the bike! For one good reason it was all about the people…more on that later!

My experience saw me sleep on couches, fold out’s, queen beds, shared beds, air beds. I went all around America from California, New Mexico, Philadelphia, Colorado to Canada! I raced a big UCI 1.1 race in Philadelphia and raced the local calendar of Northern California! I saw endless roads, awesome lakes and rivers, gorgeous mountains, one wicked baseball games. I ate A LOT! Massive pretzels, Grand Slam Denny’s Breakfast, dinar burgers and fries, enough barbeques to fill an Australian summer, Ronnie’s choc cookies, to fabulous home cooked meals by the next Donna Ray…Katherine Curi Mattis!

This was the cake mix but it was the people that made my cake taste awesome! It was everyone who had me under there roof, every host house and the family’s of Comwell’s, Mattis’, DeBacker’s, Crane, Bates, Dearden’s and the Smith’s. And of course my right hand woman Jazzy. Only knew each other by name at the start of March, but by the start of August we have became best of mates. The third musketeer Billy Crane words can not describe the generosity of this man! Every fun time had Bill in it a friend and someone who looked out for Jazzy and I throughout our stay. The fourth musketeer… yes there was four , Emma Mackie. Some serious time at the cafe, along Foothill hwy and we got to know each other dam well! I probably can not stretch the musketeer talk much further so crossing to the Rock band metaphor! Other awesome souls that made our band sound so good was my development team teammates Lauren and Maura, KCM god of wisdom, the whole of the Webcor Pro Team crew, party animal Randy J and of course Ronnies she hates it but was our America Mum!!

Everything good had to come to an end. I’m back in Ballarat for a week my home town. Studying away and racing the Geelong tour this weekend! Adelaide my home away from home will be my next stop, where I will swing into full-time study, work, some more rest off the bike before training up for the second half of the year!!!
