Build up to Philly!

I have a love hate relationship with the ergo, which was reunited this morning! I’ve never done a “ergo” (bike on a wind trainer) down in a basement before...and it didn’t in the slightest make me more excited for what I was about to encounter. The hate comes from the set up of the ergo, the gathering of all your stuff; bottles, towel and iPod all organised strategically in a radius around you so you don’t have to get off the stationary bike. The pain of the first effort on the bike the dead legs and mind set of “how the hell, am i going to get through all these efforts”. The Love only comes after you have experienced the hate, the feeling of stomping on the bike, your heart thumbing out of your chest, the pool of sweat...come on it’s kind of cool to see how much sweat comes out of you, your literally “working up a sweat”...and for me the big thing out of an ergo, is at the peak of an effort and my visualisation stream.....yep that is my secret to the survival of “ergo’s”! I FULL ON put myself inside a race situation at the very crunch point of a race I imagine every bike racer who’s better than me and myself being stronger than them at that point! Let me tell you I have won many World Cups in my time on the ergo....

So why the story of the ergo sessions? Because it’s a major part of my build up to The Liberty Classic!!!My first UCI race outside the Australian Nationals! When I have a race I’m aiming for the last three or so weeks out of the event my time on the ergo increases dramatically, and when I’m on the start line in Philadelphia I know I have done everything to prepare for the event, I also know that every girl has done exactly the same, it’s just a matter of which girl will make all their hard work count, and I’m very keen to reach “pay-day”!

Amongst the lead up to Philly I’m back in the South Bay area, retreating to Paul and Laura’s in Mountain View. With Jazzy the other Australian around the corner, and the third musketeer returning, I’m sure the time between now and me heading to the east coast will be fun on and off the bike!
Next activity planned...tin pin bowling...

Till next time

that crunch point is a lot like when you are about to get dropped and find a way to dig, get a lift, a push, a yell, and on ya go! hill repeats, with others... hopefully you'll get some of those this week too! keep up the good work.
