Packed, wrapped.....2 weeks down in SA!!

This week was a bit of a blur. It went so quick!!... although when searching for books at the uni SA library for my first assignment; waiting to get into the kitchen for a late tea after coming back from a ride; and listening to a lecturer repeat himself over and over and over again...at these times it felt like a winter had just passed!!

It wasn’t all fun and games there was some serious bike riding to be done, it was the first week of training under my new coach Gary West. The week’s training was different, the word “ergo” was thrown into my training. Up till this point I have not had a strong relationship with “ergo’s”, doing my efforts and all that fun stuff mainly on the road, however Gary made me very acquitted throughout the week. Not usually being around this environment I found it challenging; someone consistently looking over your shoulder, having to watch all types of numbers go up and down to see if what your doing is correct, and...being indoors!!But that is not to say I didn’t enjoy it, I really loved just clenching the lip and clocking up the pain meter!!
The pain meter went into over drive tho, and by Sunday when I raced my first race in SA for the year, I wished the meter had re-set itself. It was a Crit around Whitmore square and with 5 grades I was in C! Although that did not help my case ,despite attempts left right and centre I couldn’t get away from the men, the potential of my Felt AR2 to take an advantage when being in a break, didn’t get its time to shine. After giving all my energy into trying to get away for I knew I would be gobbled up if it came to a sprint.... that’s exactly what I had to settle for! Yet somehow I managed to place high enough to qualify for a wheel race in the afternoon....however if I wasn’t overhauled by men in the first race they sure as hell made sure I was in the second!!
The day’s efforts by all cyclists were rewarded with Tiff’s, Blood’s and Chris Martin’s going away party. It was a real good night actually seeing people out of their bike clothes and being able to talk without having to focus on the road, cars, lights, hills and all that which goes on when your pushing the pedals!!I would have some splendid photos of the night though...I forgot my camera and Carlee Taylor and I found an awesome park out the front of the hotel which wasn’t going to be sacrificed for anything!!
The week rounded up this time on the Monday, public holiday for the SA Cup.
The closure of the week brought a slow beach recovery ride... (below)...oh and I should not forget the icing on the cake.. the MASSIVE shift I did at work just now!!....I will save u that story!!

Tell next Sunday
Work hard, play hard!
