SO LETS TALK BIKES!
FELT AR2
Looks fantastic as you can see! When I first got this bike I was like WOW!!I remember pulling it out of the box at Cycle City thinking what a machine! No excuses now! I was busting to go for a ride on it; however this was delayed until I arrived in Adelaide the next day! When the time came to ride the FELT AR2 I took it out on some flat roads and I was amazed! For lack of better words, it was awesome! The bike was very stiff and ridged which meant that every ounce of pressure on the pedals goes directly to the bike = a faster bike! The bike dynamics of an aero frame, added to the bike being able to go faster with the same amount of effort applied in comparison to a standard bike. The bike being perfect for tours, because like many cyclists the bank balance doesn’t stretch enough for two bikes, therefore in tours where there is a time trial, the need for two bikes (standard road and time trial) is not required, for the AR2 being aero frame the attachment of aero bars to the FELT AR2 is sharply close to the aerodynamics of a standard time trial bike. However the bike wasn’t meant for me! For two reasons, 1. My strength is hills, and climbing up hills on what felt like a time trial bike wasn’t good, this was mainly caused by reason 2. I’m a girl; the bike was designed for men! Who also have the strength to push a stiff bike, including up a hill!
FELT F1 SLR
With these two factors about the FELT AR2, the advantage of the bike on the flats for me would be taken away as soon as I came to a decent climb of over 2k’s!So I reverted back to the bike I was riding last year, yet this year’s new design! The FELT F1 SLR, I’m a big fan. This bike does everything. I have raced Nationals, National Road series races, Oceania’s, Bay Crits, Time Trials on this bike and these races range from crits to long road races, and the FELT has never failed me. It’s a very responsive bike, which feels light but strong. This year FELT managed to step it up again, with making the bike even lighter, then last year. When I heard this I thought the bike would lose all its stiffness, however I was wrong, and it feels even better and more like a “race bike” then ever before! Very happy with it.
One more point, after trying DURA-ACE on the FELT AR2 I went back to SRAM, this time SRAM RED. I like SRAM better because the shifters are lighter and the group set has a fantastic response when applying pressure on it, in race circumstances! SRAM also feels and looks better then DURA-ACE!
That’s my bike wrap!!And I hope that gives you an insight why I ride a FELT F1 SLR!!I’m never sure if people want to read about the equipment I use or the paths I’m taking into becoming my dream...a pro cyclist!!Let me know!
