On the road again...

Yesterday I flew from San Jose to Albuquerque with a stopover in Phoenix final destination. Yes I’m in “the middle of bum fuck nowhere” Kathryn my team mate summed it up “I couldn’t imagine living here”, Erin another team mate toping it off “there is nothing”, the supreme icing by Kathryn “there is not a hell of a lot out here” so I think I have made my point I’m in the desert...which is New Mexico!!

Off the plane and the team and I went straight into tourist mode in Old Down Town New Mexico., Andréa, from Austria the driving force behind our tourist adventures with map in hand and directional calls wanting to explore “the American dream” ..all of us happy to jump on board. The buildings where box shape clay structures, the majority of shops selling “Mexican” items, hats, clothes, cool funky bags and jewellery. Dave our mechanic was dead set on going to the rattle snake museum, which we spent most of the time watching a DVD about turtles...they’re pretty cool animals...ask me anything!

We ventured to a Mexican Bar and the girls had martins, I underage (21 legal drinking age in US) and already sourced out by the barest stuck with good old water! But that little down was followed by somewhat of an up . Driving down the famous Route 66 taking in the fact that helmets are not needed when riding motorcycles, pubs and strip clubs made up the main street...maybe slight exaggeration but close, mustangs the car of choice! We soon or arrived at the Outfitter “restaurant” really a diner with wicked Mexican food...and bread scrolls covered with butter sauce..mmmmm!

....Now I’m the road with the team loaded into the Mercedes Sprinter called “Ina” and driving across this “beautiful land” to Silver City New Mexico where the 5 day Tour of Gila will start on Wednesday!
